We come from a country rich with a culture of indian textiles in different forms: handloom, power loom textiles and printing textiles. Ever wondered about the history of Indian textiles and their origin?
Why is Ajrakh print so similar to Dabu print, yet so different?
Why a shiny benarsi saree is not necessarily 100% authentic?
Why your pure cotton might have acrylic/polyester yarn blended in it to save costs?
I will be hosting an experience with a prime focus to help guests understand:
1) Difference between a textile and a textile craft
2) Learn about yarns: Natural, Acrylics, Polyesters and be an
awakened textile consumer
3) Introduction to Prints: Block, Resist, and Screen
4) Introduction to the Indian States. Learn their textiles and textile crafts.
and many more topics will be discussed.
Cotton and silk are the raw materials most associated with Indian textiles, but there is much more to this. Come let’s understand this Indian textiles patterns with Meher and Cece streams.
Guests will learn about the whole craft industry with the host. It will be an interactive session where thoughts will be shared both side and knowledge will be gained. You are welcome to take notes and ask anything you wish to.

Hello folks, My name is Meher. I am an Apparel, Jewellery, and textiles designer. I have been in the garment industry since I was 11 years old. Currently, I run a Jewellery start-up, majorly focusing on making handcrafted, high-end jewellery inspired by art & history at an affordable price range. I have worked in the luxury, e-commerce, and government sector when it came to apparel & textiles.
By qualification, I graduated from NIFT, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, with a Bachelor of Design degree in Fashion. Even though I am a trained fashion designer, I trained myself to become a textile connoisseur. I have worked with a textile craft cluster in Gujarat as a part of a Ministry of Textiles project.
